GRADE 8/9 NFC

Champions: Cowboys

Coaching the Cowboys this season was a pleasure. The players were motivated and focused — achieving a 13-2 overall record including 3-0 in the playoffs. Throughout the season the team played hard on both sides of the ball, achieving a 100+ point differential— all this while calling their own plays on offense and defense. For most of the team this was our 6th year in the league (and our first title!) and we were fortunate to be joined this year by Jayden and Xavier. It was a great season!

Champions: Raiders

Malcolm and I were honored to be able to coach this great group of kids for the second year in a row. Last year, we fell just short of a championship, losing in nail-bitter double overtime. We kept the stress high again this year, going to 3 overtimes, but we finally pulled off a stop and won the championships! Most members of the team play baseball together for the Hit Men, but we also have others. This team started the season shaky and with our starting QB injured, but they were resilient and worked hard to pull off a 3-0 pool play and win one of the best games of flag football I have ever been a part of. I'm so proud of them, and I know they are all going to do great things as they enter high school!

Champions: Patriots

Levi and I had a blast coaching the 7th Grade Patriots this year. This was our second year coaching them, and we got our second championship! These boys always knew how to have fun and take the game seriously at the same, which led to an amazing season. The team loved to come every Sunday and always had a passion for the game. Everyone got better at flag football, and they even got really good at drawing up their own plays. They are an amazing group of kids that are so much fun to coach and always bring energy and joy to the game. I can't wait for next year where we can begin the quest for a three-peat!

GRADE 6 NFL

Champions: Chargers

Congratulations to the Chargers on their 6th grade division title. Brett and I have had the pleasure of coaching many of these players for four seasons and it has been wonderful to see them develop their skills, teamwork, and trust in each other as they’ve risen from the “runts” of the league to champions. This season we admired the poise and sportsmanship our players displayed as they competed in both the 6th & 7th grade divisions. We went 2-1 in pool play and our potent offense and stringent D led us to a 33-7 victory in the championship. We couldn’t be prouder of this team. Go Chargers!

GRADE 4/5 NFL

Champions: Rams

The 2019/20 Rams were a team comprised of a core group of veteran Play Flag Football players. 4 of our 8 have been playing together since the first grade. They absolutely love the game and look forward to it every fall. Our success this year was due to our ability to move to more of a passing game. We have some great backs on our team, but the run game seems to get more difficult as the kids get older. I believe that good defense is really important, so our pregame focuses on flag pulling drills first, then running routes/passing/catching and finally work on set plays. We are fortunate to have a wonderful set up with lined fields with two refs per game all supported by the PFF team. Looking forward to the 6th grade season.

GRADE 3/4 NFL

Champions: 49ERS

We are the 49ers Red - undefeated (12-0) champions of the 3rd/4th grade division. We were moved up to the 4th/5th grade division for the playoffs - a decision that was met with a lot of hesitancy and reluctance from our young team. However, as true champions and competitors, the boys accepted the cards they were dealt and decided to take on the challenge - embracing it as an opportunity for growth as individual athletes but more importantly as a TEAM. Although the scoreboard and record against the older and bigger squads did not reflect success, the manner in which the young 49ers put forth their best effort and competed from beginning to end was something that we as coaches and parents were very proud of. This season was a combination of exhilarating highs and discouraging lows. Things did not always go our way. But through it all, the coaches kept coaching and the players kept playing and we reached the finish line together. We are just a close-knit group of friends that sincerely care about one another and are happy to be on the same 49er ohana. 4 years together and counting...

GRADE 3 NFL

Champions: Patriots

A great team of 3rd graders that played tough every weekend! Ending the regular season with a solid winning record the team had to play the first round of the playoffs with only four players. While the ‘Iron 4’ that played that day ended with a 1-1 record they played hard in two very close games to stay in the running for the championship game the following weekend. That final game was a back and forth battle but with the full complement of players the Patriots came out on top! The coaches were proud of how much progress the individual players made through the season and how well the team pulled together as a whole on that final day.
